Documenting Newham memories and Creative workshops

This project [Rosetta Arts Gallery in Westham, London x London College of Fashion] was conceived during the peak of the first lockdown in March 2020.

It attempted at building bridges between the diversity of local and global cultures. It was an opportunity to engage with curators and members of Rosetta Arts as well. In a group of four from different disciplines, this collaborative project proposed connecting with diaspora communities in East London and discovering their oral histories in relation to heritage textile crafts.

This was a meaningful project that primed to advocate for currently overlooked issues of cultural sustainability and tackle social issues of diaspora communities while also developing capabilities to rescue and revitalize cultural heritage worldwide.

We talked to members of Newham, incorporating Zoom workshops and Padlet boards to share ideas and creativity apart from recording memories from Newham.
